About the congress

Today, ageing is one of the reasons for reflection and concern on the part of the most varied areas. From medical science to technology. From sports to leisure, economics and politics. There is not one field in which this subject is able to be ignored in the structural implications caused by a phenomenon, that itself is natural, but whose social extension makes it particularly complex and rich from the point of view of the discussion.

Based on this assumption, in 2018, eventQualia laid the foundations for a multidisciplinary discussion on the topic, crossing perspectives from different professional and academic fields, in a two-day congress, open to all those interested in this debate. In Porto, the Dr. Foundation António Cupertino de Miranda was the stage for a rich and informal sharing of contributions and experiences that actively contributed to the (re)knowledge of the topic of transversal and timeless interest on the 15th and 16th of October 2018. More than a hundred professionals, researchers, professors, and students from the most varied areas were gathered to discuss issues that cut across the main challenges and potentialities of the contemporary ageing process. We consider that the first edition of the congress was a success in promoting a differentiating dialogue from the point of view of approaching the proposed themes.

In 2022, we intend to continue to trace the path in this matter, aiming to reach new and even more varied audiences with the same desire to make known the multiple perspectives of a phenomenon that deserves to be discussed in the wide extent of its impacts, particularly in this "post-Covid-19" era.

Whom do we reach… Whom do we want to reach?

Sociologists, Anthropologists, Nutritionists, Geriatricians, Gerontologists, Psychologists, Doctors, Architects, Social Workers, Nurses, Teachers, and researchers. All of these areas were present in the first edition of Let’s Talk About Ageing.

In 2022, we aim to extend the discussion to Law, Religion, Fashion, Technology, Philosophy, Physiotherapy, Animation, Tourism and Politics, among many other areas. We will continue to divulge with the ambition of an even broader view than in 2018, and we believe that this second edition will grow in number and quality.

On November 11th and 12th, the second edition of the Let´s Talk About Aging congress will take place as a hybrid format (in-person and online).
