Holds a PhD and Habilitation in Sociology and is a Full Professor in the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto (FLUP), as well as a researcher at the Institute of Sociology (IS-UP).
Research activity focuses on domestic and gender-based violence, violence against older people, women’s work, and occupational health. Author of several books, book chapters, and scientific articles published in national and international journals, and coordinator of multiple national and international research projects.
Member of the General Council of the University of Porto, President of the Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, member of the Ethics Committee of the University of Porto, and Director of the Master’s Degree in Sociology at the same Faculty.
